Hi using this head with my telephone lens is there any way I could use it for normal lens for landscape photo or do I have to use my other ball head as going on hols and weights a premium and wife will have a fit if take even more so ay help much appreciated
 
You could attach the bottom plate to the camera so it's points in the same direction as the lens bit a gimbal is really only for long lenses. If you already have a ball head take that and leave the gimbal at home. The ball head is much smaller and weighs less and can be used for both long lenses and short lenses.
 
Thanks but I wanted to take my Nikon 200 500 lens my ball head will take the weight but was a bit worried if I didn't lock it tight it could drop
