Before work/After work

Accidentally stumbled into this idea when shooting a recce shot for an idea I had. Shot it in the morning to see what lens I might want, then shot the shot I wanted at night.

Maybe it's because I'm unoriginal and I've ending up shooting the same sort of shots on my way to work as I am on the way back.

Anyway, I thought that happy accident could turn into a series. Maybe.

If I do continue, I think I need to work on my positioning. i.e. somehow marking the ground so I know where to get back to plus being a bit more rigorous with recording settings like focal length to try and have the shots more similar.

Here are the two that sparked it.

I think it's a great concept and what you've shot so far looks really good.
Maybe use a small piece of gaffer/duct tape, then you can just remove it when you're finished.
I hope you can keep going with this.

Great idea. I like these. It will be interseting to see how the light changes with the time of year.

Nice idea and really interesting shots. I can see not just a project but a Zine coming out of it, if that interests you

Excellent idea, cool to see the contrast between night and day .............. and I do like a city at night.

The Millenium To Big Ben night shot is a topper.

I really like this idea. Yes, it's good to see the stark contrast between day and night at this time of year, but it will also be interesting to see the more subtle differences in light and shade as the sun moves around later in the year.

Great idea. I did a 'before and after' project a while back, and one of my selections was based on this - on the way to work and on the way home from work..

Whilst I can think of plenty of downsides to working in a major city, what is definitely an upside is the vast amount of interesting photos that can be made like the ones in this project. (y)
I work from home: my "before work/after work" shots would be PJs, then jeans :D

Been after this shot for a while, but not been able to coincide the tide being out with me having a camera on me at the same time.

St Pauls from the beach in front of the Tate modern.

Both on a Sony A7i.

Morning one is a one-shot taken with a Minolta AR1 55/2 from 1959.

Evening one is a pano made from around 8 images using a Tamron 80-210/3.8-4. This lens is from around 1979.
