It's usually a sacking offence for reportage types to alter a pic in any way, so this guy will be very lucky if he gets away with it.
 
Strange that there is so much emphasis on the picture being factual in newspapers given the slant they put on most of their writing.
 
This has been rumbling on for months with the subject receiving a lot of coverage on the 'net, I'll try and dig out some more info later.

Interesting to see the colour differences in each picture of the same thing, some look way off

Indeed. I remember someone getting roasted over here for removing something from the background of a press shot cos it was more artistically pleasing. He got fired and a very bad reputation IIRC - if you're in the game though you should know what you're doing and the rules you have to play by.
 
Yes, an old story. The tog posted his response on his blog saying that the image used was actually for his own private use and he did not realise that he had sent the wrong one in. (or something similar)

Anyway, apparently, after looking back he has been altering images for years (?).

Sackable offence for a tog.
