BBC Piece on Photographers in Riots

Fascinating stuff. Demonstrates how the photographer is more important than the camera - that one of the bloke standing in a cloud of steam/smoke at around 2.40 is a cracker by any standards.

And I'm glad I work in Somerset ;)

It's interesting to listen to. I dealt with many photographers during the nights of the main riots who were injured or, more commonly, having had their kit stolen.

They were some of the most surreal and hardest nights I've ever worked. Thanks for sharing the link - those pictures give a good sense of what it was like.

It was, watching it on TV,it seem so surreal, just couldn't believe what was happening :(

It's incredible how you focus on police and firefighters doing their jobs in situations like this. You just don't seem to consider the risk that photographers are exposed to just to do their jobs.

Those are some great pictures considering they were shot on a camera phone. I went to the riots we had in Bristol to document the event with another photographer friend and had to fight off a guy who tried to steal my friends camera. Really glad there were 2 of us or he probably would have got it.

I agree some great shots there to say they are on a phone. Obviously the quality lacks but the impact of the photographs is key. Good watch was that.
