Is it worth purchasing one of these, they look awesome and make your camera look bigger, I would not get an official Nikon one as they are too expensive just a cheaper one off ebay for like £40.

Just wondering if its worth paying that much?
 
apart from it making your camera look bigger do you think you would have any benefit for it ?

I got a cheap one for my D50 but the extra shutter release only worked by infa-red so was totally useless for fast action so never used it but when i got the D90 i got the proper nikon one and it works alot better and wish i had changed sooner.
 
How much is the proper Nikon one because that has the portrait shot button on it to make it easier.

don't know if its worth it much, as I never let my battery run out anyway but Just thinking could save some time if I ever have a long trip somewhere and cant charge up
 
I don't think there is an official grip for the D40.

Why do you want one?
 
cant get a proper nikon on for the d40, so your only stuck with aftermarket one's...

extra battery power would come in handly, but the vertical shutter speed is useless, as said, you need to get the cam to recive ir to use it, and then it doen't focus either


i'd only have to to balance a long len's really
 
Put your money towards something that will make a bigger difference. :)
 
Cheers, Lens it is a nice 50mm 1.8 up to now seems best. going to look into macro lenses love the effect of close up of bee's and flowers.

As you can tell I am not go at making up my mind but dont want to rush into anything.
 
As you have a D40, and most macro is done manual focus, just pick up a cheap manual focus macro. You might find one for £40 (I got one here for £35 and its awesome)
 
I to would be interested in one of these lens for £35 if you can point me in the right direction.
 
I made mine using a CPU mount off a knackered Nikon 20mm f2.8, an M42 body mount off an old Zenit TTL and lots of epoxy resin to hold them together.
You have to stop the lens down manually.
