I'm afraid I don't know the battery you need, but you could try contacting Old Timer Cameras - http://www.oldtimercameras.com

They used to provide photocopies of instruction manuals for old cameras and accessories, so perhaps they may be able to help you.

Proberbly a PX 625, which are now discontinued, and CDS cells tend to have a finite life.

I thought CDS cells were OK. They are basically a light dependant resistor.

Well yes and no, they do age in terms of their construction, I have seen many Nikon F2's and Nikon F's where the CDS light meter had failed or is inacurate.

There is an intertesting discussion on the subject here

Basically you are looking at a light meter that is at least 25 Years old, they dont last forever......;)

There is an alkaline version of the PX625 called the PX625A. This is 1.5v instead of the 1.3v of the mercury cell. This can cause the meter to read high.

To get round this, a schottky diode can be wired in series (internally) to drop the voltage back down to 1.3v.

however, alkaline cells do not stay at a constant voltage and tend to drop slowly as they discharge. Another option is a silver oxide cell but these need a spacer to make them fit in the cell cavity. They are also 1.5v so will need the diode mod.

A third option is the zinc air cell as used in hearing aids.
