Wanting to take my Canon 50D with me on holiday as a backup body to my 7d Mkii however trying to reduce weight / quantity of ancillary items. Does anyone know if there is a reliable battery charger that can be used with both the LP-E6N and the BP-511A batteries ?

AFAIK there are third party chargers where they use an insert per battery type.......but surely the chargers are so relatively small that you could put both in sock in any shoes you are packing, so no extra space needed or wasted???

You must be really limited for space!
The same electricity cord surely works for both, so it is just the adapter?
The UniPal doesn't look like much of a space saving device compared to taking both adapters....

That Unipal looks bigger than two OEM Canon chargers!

This might be overkill, but if you upgrade your 50D to a 60D it will use the same battery as a 7D Mk II, and in fact the same battery as the 6D series and 5D series if you ever want to go in that direction. There are 13 Canon DSLRs which use the same battery (LP-E6/LP-E6N) which is great for simplifying the ancilliary hardware.

I use a UniPal on holiday. Allows me to charge all the different batteries from assorted cameras as well as phones and other USB powered devices. Does AA(A) cells too. Can be powered by either mains (110-250 V) or 12V DC.
