Yes
Well I'm back after afew years out (afew personally reasons resulted in having to sell up my gear), but I'm happy to be back with a Sony A77 (with kit lens) and a Metz 52 AF-1 for a tidy sum of £315.

My first query is AA batteries. Are people using branded (Energiser, Duracell etc) for flashguns or are there any 3rd party batteries that are just as good? And what MAH should I be looking for ideally, for the above flash.

Secondly, I've been looking at the Sony 55-300mm to accompany the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 that I've purchased today. I used to have the Tamron 70-300mm SP, but wondered if anyone on here has any info regarding how the Sony holds up against the Tamron??

The best "stay charged" Duracell rechargeable with the highest possible MAH.

I use the eneloop or 7day shop good to go one for my flash guns.

Cheers guys.

I have heard of Eneloop, but never had any experience with them.

You have the A77 with the "kit lens"? Would that be the extremely good Sony 16-50mm f2.8, which several have suggested is so good that it ought to be designated a G lens? If so, why the Tamron 17-50mm?

Have a look at Vapextech batteries from componentshop.co.uk - like eneloop but less expensive. I've been using them for the last 10 years, and they've been reliable, eventually failing after 5-7 years & being replaced gradually.

Unfortunately not. It came with the 18-55 SAM. As much as I'd love the 16-50mm, at the moment I think the Tamron is the only replacement within budget.
