Am trying to batch sharpen in CS5 and having diffs.
Number 1, can it be done.
Number 2, I click FILE/AUTOMATE/BATCH and the Batch window opens. The first line is marked SET and there is only one option and it is DEFAULT ACTIONS
The next line is ACTIONS and it has a drop down menu with 12 options, the first of which is Vignette(Selections)
Help please

Sorry forgot to say there is no SHARPEN option in the Action drop menu

You need to make a sharpen action first with your favorite setting (remember different types and sizes of image will need different sharpening) then you'll have the option to select that action in the batch settings, a stage further is to make a droplet on desktop and just drag a whole folder to that, but one step at a time.

Thanks. Another problem you might like to comment on.
I took a folder of photos into Elements 11 on my Mac and there I did a batch levels etc adjustment and made the destination folder the same as the source. It duly did the adjustment and seemed to work its way through the images. I then put them on a pen drive and went back to my PC where I tried to open them in Windows Photo Viewer. However I now get the following message - WINDOWS PHOTO VIEWER CANT OPEN THIS PICTURE BECAUSE THE FILE APPEARS TO BE DAMAGED, CORRUPTERD OR IS TOO LARGE. B----y maddening! A strange thing I notice is that the file size, originally 8MB is now 100 kilobytes, a massive reduction in size. I selected JPEG Max quality in the output section.

You can also do a batch sharpen by opening the images in RAW and using the synchronise function, or if shooting jpeg, pre-set sharpening in the camera. But, echoing Wayne, batch processing of any nature is not a good idea unless the shots are all much the same.
