I have a load of RAW files and I want to duplicate each one in a small (half size?) jpeg for viewing in explorer before opening the RAW, how do you do this in CS3? (Tried the batch process but it only does it in the main window not ACR, and I don't particularly want to have to open ever RAW and save them individually as jpegs).

Thanks

you could batch convert to jpeg first using image processor in scripts

Open them all in CS3 They will ll show on the left side of the raw window.
select all...
Synchronise...
adjust the first one to taste... that will do the same to them all
Save them as Jpegs in a new folder .
You can then go back to the original raw at any time to do a better job.

Thanks, never looked under that option before, I knew there must be an easy way.:D

Or in future, shoot RAW and smallest Jpeg. One for processing, one for viewing.

Unfortunately you don't have that option on the 400D.

No, but if you shoot RAW + jpg, it's a lot easier and quicker just to batch resize a job lot a jpegs, just a couple of clicks in photoshop if you've got it set up (all you need are lots of cf cards to compensate for the extra files) :)

Yes, but the reason I wasn't shooting RAW and Jpeg was because I wanted to conserve space on my memory cards. I normally shoot RAW and Jpeg when just out and about for an afternoon/day. :)

Another vote for using DPP. "Simples" to quote a well known meerkat...

Script Writer will do this using the BATCH script and you can make all manner of other changes at the same time :)

I'll go with the DPP vote. You can apply a batch change to sharpen or adjust levels etc if you want to and then convert the batch to JPGs as small as you like
