Basketball season about to start

The season is about to start and i am looking for some advice.Last year i shot mostly with the 1Dmkiii with a 85mm 1.8 and some times my 70-200mm 2.8 for the opposite end shots.What i am looking to buy is a lens for wide under basket shots.
Any advice would be appreciated.

The 16-35mm sounds good, but don't know what the focus speed is like on this lens.
