I'm on a course from work in Hampshire soon and I'll be looking to stay at a hotel in Basingstoke for a few days. I have a choice of the Premiere Inn in central Basingstoke or the one to the south of the town. I like the idea of the central one for access to the shops, cinema etc but I'm wondering what the traffic is like at rush hour? Does the town come to a standstill or will it be an ok place to stay?

Cheers!

Traffic isn't to bad as said, which Hotel is it to the south?

Central town is easy to do anything and some good restaurants, cinema etc...

Fancy a drink drop us a line...

Traffic never gets really bad - you'll be absolutely fine I worked in Basingstoke for 2 years and never found the traffic a problem at rush hour.

Thanks for your replies. I'll probably go for the central hotel. The other choice is the Premier Inn just south of town on the A30.

Traffic is never that bad, but staying out of down would be v boring.

You have your usual gaggle of over-priced mediocre chain restaurants and bars by the cinema.....but there's some reasonably decent independent places scattered around the top end of town (away from the station).

Just watch out for the ****ed-up local inbreds if you're around town at night, get back in the hotel before kick-out time.
