Basic Lightroom Advice for new Windows 8.1 User

I'm still working my around Windows 8.1 and have a couple of very simple questions.

1) Where should my Lightroom 5 catalogue ideally go. I've had the sytem set up so my programmes sit on an SSD as my C drive and then have two normal HD drives as back up for my images with a portable drive for added security

2) Ideally what I would like to do is mirror the 2nd HD off the first i.e as I delte images in LR they will alos be delted from the 2nd drive. Is this simple to do in Windows 8.1 or do I ideally need some software to achieve this

LR cat (and current working files) is best on ssd.

I wouldn't automatically replicate deletions personally. Got disaster written all over it if you delete the wrong things.

Allway sync has a feature built in where it copies deleted and modified files to a temporary folder rather than deleting/overwriting.
