Basic editing for win 10 low spec pc?

I normally use PS and LR for my editing, but I like to keep my editing pc off line as much as possible. I have a small win 10 pc (not much bigger than an old hard drive) and it's fairly low spec. I'd like to have something on that just for quick basic edits for web, I only really need crop, levels or curves, colour ballance and sharpen.
Does gimp need high spec, and will it run on win 10? Any other suggestions?
 
I use Gimp on a 12 year old Laptop and it works fine but I am using Linux !
 
Think I'll give Gimp a go first, then have a look around if that fails to work. From memory it was like an old version of PS last time I used it (about 10 years ago maybe?) Might also give Faststone a bash.
 
Irfanview is likely to be best, although I'm not sure there's a curves capability. It's extremely light weight and runs very quickly.
 
Faststone is probably the best lightweight editor. A little fiddly at first but easy to get to grips with.

Well - I see that Faststone has curves AND levels! Along with crop, border etc etc. I use it daily for image sorting & review, but I'd never noticed that it had these functions, for which I open images in PS - which I may well carry on doing, but it's handy to know they're there. :-)
 
So far I'm got Faststone and Irfan view installed and working. I havent tried Gim yet as I'm wondering if an older version of PS will work on it, that way I can use my actions.
That said so far Faststone seems the more suitable. It can see and edit my raw and DNG file with Irfanview cant (might be using it wrong) and I prefer the sharpening option, which has ajustment, the Irfanview seems an on or off option, again that might be user error.
I'm going to bung on a few tutorials (some might say I wise man would have done this first...) But if I can get PS3 or 4 working on it I'll be a happy bunny, although I have my doubts.

Sounds like faststone is the one for you. Yes, Irfanview is very uncomplicated, though it should be able to open raw files.
 
Yes, sorry CS3. Managed to get Rawtherapee and Darktable to work. Rawtherapee is very slow, and darktable has me baffled... I cant even find 100% view option or export.
My guess is Faststone is going to be the one of choice.
