Am I right in saying that if you give someone your account number and sort code they can only put money in and not take money out?

We have dealt with a few bank transfers and yes depending on which banks ,it can take up to 4 days to show in your account and YES it is a safe the other party cant take your money out, only put in .

The alarming thing is that if you are paying somone by BT the money can disapear from your account and remain in cyber limbo for days before magically appearing in the recipients account.

New system caled faster payments now operated by most banks, does same day transfers but cheaper than a chaps.

same bank to same bank should be instant... done it before RBS to RBS and it showed up straight away... safe as houses

indeed thats why i usually ask who they bank with has ill pay with my bro/sis missus account so it clears quicker

safer and easier but no come backs unlike paypal

I'm guessing you have never been on the loosing side of a dispute with PP/Ebay. Now, I only use it to buy stuff and won't sell with PP :bonk:

I'd much rather pay and be paid by BT.

Obviously when sending money you need to be a bit cautious, but its a safe as houses payment wise.
