Hi,

I am going to the banger racing carnival night at the Norfolk stadium on Saturday and I was after any tips and tricks that you can offer me please.

I am very new to this type of photography and would love to come away with some excellent shots (will post some here if they are any good ones).

Thanks

Rob

I'd say that light's going to be at a premium so you'll probably need a high ISO and shoot wide open to get action shots as you'll be too far away for flash to be effective. There's a bit more scope with stuff that's not moving so for that you can always use a tripod.

Good luck & let us know how it goes.

Hi Rob,

I've shot banger racing only once, up at Wimbledon - it was great fun, but I didn't have a great vantage point. There were two pro togs down on the track itself, which seems to be a much better (but dangerous!) position.

I found that my better shots came later in the evening, when the cars were a bit more smashed up, but the light was considerably worse.
Have a look at my Banger Racing album and you'll get a feel for the sort of things I found interesting. As suggested above, I shot wide open (around f/4) for most shots.
