As some of you know I started playing guitar earlier this year and we are taught as a group, all of us complete beginners.

In about three weeks we have our first gig at the Hertford Marquee where we are doing four numbers but we still do not have a band name - which is where you guys come in. We are all in our forties, play to have fun and most of us are *ahem* portly ;) (I prefer to call it unusual muscle development).

We all have to come up with some names by Tuesday and so far I only have a couple:

Mid-life crisis (my wife's suggestion :bat:)
The Gutbuckets :D

:help: :help: :help:

i always thought if i had a band it would be called 'draft'
beer and racing (err and the cold wind beneath the door :) )
you are welcome to pinch it as i aint ever going to have a band :)

come to think of it, single name bands arent really the thing anymore, so maybe it needs updating to 'the draft'

So how do we get tickets to this gig....and is it OK to bring a video camera for posting on YouTube?

;)

If you're doing covers, call yourselves "Grand Theft Audio".

The Portly Mentals

(there's a musical term called portamento)

Idol Frets

"Gut Bucket And The Waistlines"

My last band was called "Live Sex and Free Beer"

We haven't gigged for nearly 20 years so you're welcome to use the name. Looks great on posters and pulls the crowds in...until they realise that isn't quite what they're getting

 I like that idea.

What sort of music is it?

Rock & blues covers mainly. We did a thrash metal version of "wig wam bam" by The Sweet.

That was probably the highlight tbh...kinda gives you an idea of how good we were. Several years of playing the working mens clubs around Sheffield knocks and desire to remain in the music industry out of you.

Be more flattering to yourself, the best blues singers are portly!
