Is it me or does anyone else recall balaclavas with horror?

You don't see them very often these days but when I was a kid during snowy winter weather I was packed off to school with one. My mum was most insistent that it was the best thing to keep my ears warm and if I didn't wear it I would suffer from dreadful earache.

Of course as soon as I was round the corner, off would come the balaclava as it made your ears and neck itch like crazy.

The only good reason for wearing one was to prevent snow from snowball fights going down your neck.

I do remember the snood... which was I think the early model of the buff. I liked them

I have a Nike Dryfit one thats pretty good, become rather important thing at 2am standing around working outside in -5deg temps.

i have a fleece snood whcih is great, really good for keeping me warm in sweden , especially when paired with my 2 layer fleece hat. toasty toasty toasty!

oh and i bought a buff last year, really good worn as a hat under my cycle helmet and easy to pack away in my bag if it got too hot!

balaclavas though.... criminal!

I thought they were handy when nipping to the post office to make a withdrawal ;);)

I personally hate them, last time I saw one was in 1993

I still have nightmares about being forced to wear a balaclava as a child. I hated the ruddy things.

I'm starting to reach the age though where I'm starting to wonder whether I need one.....

Liking the buff. Much better idea than a helmet, and versatile.

I actually picked one up in a Wal-Mart last week in the wintry location of Palm Springs! God alone only knows what the purchasers of said item use them for over there.......

You cant wear it - well maybe you can:thinking:

1 lb. walnuts, ground
1/2 c. finely ground almonds
1 lb. unsalted butter
3 c. white crystal sugar
1 lb. thawed fillo strudel dough
1 tsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. orange juice
Pinch of cinnamon

Now what to do - CLICK HERE

Not using them any more; I'd look like a total moron wearing one these day :p!

Yup, I remember them well; and was forced into them as well :shake: :dummy:. Thank God I can now say "no, thank you" to my mum

Thought they where still in fashion.See them quite regularly over here in N.Ireland. ;)

Still well loved in some parts of the world :D
