I've got a whopping huge 'lowepro rover AW plus' that carries all my gear, which is great when I'm out and about not knowing what gear I need - just grab the bag and run. Also good for taking the whole lot on hols etc.

However, when I'm on skye walking I'll only need:

Canon 350d + Sigma 10-20mm attached + lee filter kit + manfrotto 190xProB.

The other gear i'll need is the usual walking stuff - First aid kit, water bottle, emergency phone chargers, foil blankets, spare layers etc.

Anyone recommend a smaller bag for out and about. Must be AW and have a tripod strap - Lowepro is my preferred brand.

I'm much confused - all help gratefully received

What about the Primus AW i got one from amazon for £40 ish it should handle all your gear and extra's no probs, has a fold away tripod holder as well. Failing that ive also got a Kata 3n1 20 which i like and has a rain cover as well.

Another vote for the primus aw £45 from amazon. The only thing I have found is the pocket you put the feet of your tripod into is too small to accept 2 feet as they show on the lowepro website, but I think this is just down to the size of my giottos 3361b tripod. I have also added an extra strap at the top of the bag to stop the tripod moving around whilst walking or on the bike.

I had the same issue with the tripod, I found if I extend the end sections very slightly I can get the 3 feet in.
