Hi all,

Since i got a grip for my 40d, it no longer fits comfortably in my crumpler. I was looking at getting a LOWEPRO MINI TREKKER AW. Plenty of room in there i know but is it deep enough to hold the 40d with a grip? Unfortunately i'm not going to be able to get out and find one to try in the near future.

On the other hand i quite like the idea of the Sling shot bags. I'm only going to have one gripped body and a mid range lens, and some shorter lenses. But then i guess if i ever get a long lens the sling shot won't be big enough.

thanks

could you list your exact kit that you want to put into the bag?

this would definitely narrow down choices.

also where do you intend to go and is comfort neccessary, normally backpacks are very comfortable but not designed for around the town use (unless you use a small one) however shoulder are designed for around the town use but not as comfortable.

I have the slingshot 200 with a Gripped 40D and 17-70 lens.
Additionally I have 70-200 F4 L, 50mm 1.8, Canon 1.4x tele, Sigma 500DG Flash, Set of Macro Rings and everything fits with a bit of a squeeze.

If you are going for the slingshot then I would opt for the bigger 300. This bag should take your gripped 40D with a 70-200mm lens attached.

Thanks guys.

My kit as it is now, gripped 40d, 24-105mmL, 50mm, 55-250mmIS, sigma 105mm, sigma 10-20mm and 430ex. I guess the only addition i'm looking at lens wise would be a longer zoom like 70-200mm or similar to replace the 50-250mm.

I current have a XXL crumpler shoulder bag. I'm more than likely just to be using a new bag 'around town' but occasionally take it out on long walks.

Your kit elliot is similar to mine i guess and perhaps the 300 slingshot as you advise, may be more appropriate and future proof me.

thanks again.

I reckon you'd get all that in a mini trekker.....

The mini trekker is definitely deep enough for a gripped 40D, and it's also long enough for one of the 70-200mm lenses, it'd be cozy in there, but that's better than having all your gear rattling around inside your bag banging aginst each other IMHO!! ;)

The Lowepro Mini Trekker AW will easily hold your gripped 40D and quite a bit of other gear, in fact I can get the gripped 50D or 7D assembled with the 300.2.8L in the long centre compartment quite comfortably with the lens hood reversed. Ir also fits in with either converter fitted too, although it's a bit tighter with the 2XTC fitted.

Quick answer is yes.

Mine holds a gripped 5d2 with 24-105L, 100-400L, 17-40L, Tokina 100mm f2.8, filters, lens hoods, memory holder.

In the flap I carry a cleaning kit and netbook pc.

The bag only looks tiny but it's a bit like the Tardis :D

It's definately my bag of choice.

Have a look at the new 302AW slingshot.
Mine holds my 50D gripped with 70-200L and 1.4x extender fitted, 10-22, 24-105(inc hoods), batteries, cards, and other odds and sods.
There is still room for a flashgun in the top section and this new model also has the facility to fix a tripod onto the side.

I've also owned a mini trekker and I could also fit a waterproof jacket, a thermos and a packed lunch.
It's a good bag but I prefer the ease of access with the slingshot.

Thanks again all. It's the ease of access i like with the slingshot but how comfortable is it to carry around all day?

How

I find it very comfortable, if I remember correctly, my previous 200AW slingshot had a strap that clipped onto the main sling strap.
On the 302AW this has gone and a proper waist strap has been fitted and I find this is much more comfortable.
