ive got a massive scratch on my d200 sensor..i have only had it a few months..noticed it today when moving some pictures across..

havn't got a clue how it happened but there you go..so does anyone know how much it will cost to replace or should i buy a new camara...

If you've not been scrubbing away at it with a pad or similar its very unlikely to be a scratch. Probably just gunk. In which case worth a clean to see if it'll go way.

Sensors are pretty hard to scratch without manual intervention. Even then you have to try hard (... hoping Janice isn't reading)

its a scratch it wont move and its massive..ive tried cleaning it..

Are you sure its not just a hair? It would be incredibly difficult to put a scratch on it without it being deliberate, or cleaning it with a screwdriver.
You didnt try and clean it with a screwdriver did you? There is glass over the sensor itself, it would be just this that needs replacing if it is a scratch.
May be worth phoning up Nikon or someone like Grays of Westminster ( or a Nikon approved agent) to get a quote for repair. I should think it would be cheaper than a new camera, unless you need new one?

Have you been doing a Janice to it?
You would notice if you had scratched it during a clean.

sample pics to get a better idea please.

its a scratch.ive looked at it though a delkin loop..ironic as it was cleaning it with delkins cleaning pads that caused the problem..

the pad had a piece of plastic poking though the tip(great)..ive got a hold of nikon and its about £100 to replace the high pass filter(which is the scratched bit)...so its not all bad execpt the bloody thing is only 5 months old...
