Backlit photos

Hi all,

I really want to give this a try at home, but what lighting will give me this effect? I’ve looked online but seem to be getting conflicting info

You’ll be getting conflicting info because you’re looking for ‘backlit photos’ of which this definitely isn’t.

So; here’s what you’re looking at.
1 large octabox or brolly above and slightly camera right. What looks like a triflector or a 3 separate reflectors just out of shot at chest height, camera left.

Another light behind the subject pointing at the background. And possibly a further light on the rest of the BG.

All of the above is obvious just from looking (once you’ve learned what you’re looking for)
1 main catchlight, reflects keylight
2 lower catchlights reflecting the reflectors
3 the background spot.

I had a feeling I was describing it incorrectly, it was the only way I could frame the question!
