Ok, one for you studio buffs

I have just got my first set of studio lights after 20+ yrs of photography. I now have to order a background frame (must be portable for now) and backgrounds.

Do I just get the interfit system? or is there a better cheaper one?
Can material be used for backgrounds? we have a local curtain maker who has a vast range of different style materials including black and white blackouts which are thick enough

Thanks

Steve

You can get them on ebay for £70 if thats any help. Adjustable in height and width.

Ive read quite a bit about backgrounds but am yet to purchase.
I have read a lot about peeps being dissatisfied with creases in fabric and I think the more modern approach especially for white is the paper on a roll stuff.

Dont see why you cant use the black fabric from the curtain maker, just be careful that some synthetic fabrics could reflect the light back. (I bought a cheap black sheet that does this).
Be interested to know how you get on if you go for the curtain idea ... and how much it costs in relation to buying something from a photographic source.

Interesting thing about the reflections. I will take my compact camera up there and take a few shots

Pleased to hear that you have brought those lights Steve, reckon I might have a future use for those on a Tuesday evening

well because of the club I ended up buying a set with cooling fans. Did your dad get any info on the backgrounds that where for sale?

Good Man Steve.......will have a chat about the backgrounds later, my mother is a very skilled seamstress, sure she knock something up??

Update

Well I am having a background made out of white cotton (same meterial as used by a local studio). By made, I mean hemmed and a slot for the tubes to be put through.

Total cost! VERY CHEAP. If the photogrph results are good then expect to see a new range of backgrounds at very cheap prices on ebay soon
