Backgrounds - paper vs cloth

I'm looking to buy some backgrounds for a small home studio. I like the look of the Lencarta backdrop support and a couple of the cloth backgrounds (black and white at the moment with a view to getting some colour ones in the future)

Can anyone give me their views on paper backdrops and cloth backdrops? I can imagine both get crumpled but the cloth can be washed and ironed.
 
I bought a role of Colorama paper, 2.5 metres wide and I don't remember how long, many years ago. It has been used as background for many photoshoots, stapled to a bar along the ceiling at the end of my office/studio, (and removed when now needed) and allowed to hang free and run under the photo-subject.
Over the years the working end has become crumpled, stained or torn, and I just cut it off and unroll a bit more. I don't know how much is left but the roll still feels heavy!

I think i've found what you suggested. They look good but seem to only come in black and white. I would prefer something that I can add other colours to when i'm done practising high and low key.

Will keep it in mind though as I can always sell them on and upgrade to the backdrop and support set up.
 
B&H in New York do collapsables for half the price they are in UK, Check them out, even with postage it will still be cheaper. I use 2 I got from them
 
If you want smooth clear 'invisible' background, paper is better. It's very hard to get cloth perfectly smooth.
