I've got two spare lightstands - what do I need to turn them into a background roll holder? I can't work out what I need to screw onto the top of them or where to get the crossbar from?...

I sometimes use a telescopic squeege handle as a cross bar  it goes from 4ft to 12ft just took the squeege part off, two clamps from an old drum kit & thats it. I suppose you could drill each end & put some kind of pin/bolt through & into the top of the stands if your stands have a whole in the end.

Now thats what I call creative thinking (on a budget)!

Nobody else got any input?

Have found karlu.com useful for this sort of thing. They also have a sales helpline that you can phone.

Thanks, will also check them out... had never heard of them.

Cheers, found the Super Clamps, and cheaper than eBay - just need to find the telescopic 3m background roll holder to go with them now... can't find that on the Karlu site....

Heard of a few people just getting some tubing from Wickes. Obviously not telescopic though.
Although with a bit of oversized sleeve tube and some ingenuity, it should be possible to DIY it.

Grrrr, I bliddy searched everywhere for that!! Cheers - don't think I'll be buying at that price though... well, might consider it as I wouldn't need the super clamps then... :D

What about one of these?

Btw, I haven't forgotten about your snoots, I'll try and get over and get them in the next few days

Cheers on both counts - the pole is an option, but you know how lazy I am, so the thought of not having to assemble anything really appeals... :D
