back door lock advice..

hi folks does anyone know if there is a lock that i can fit to my elderly uncles back door that will lock automatically when he shuts it from the outside - then key required to open the door when going back inside ? due to the fact he tends not to lock it when he goes out . any advice appreciated,,,

A normal Yale lock will do that, as long as he doesn't lock himself out

yeah they are all well and good till you leave the key inside :bonk:
my mate was moving into his house left the keys inside and used the front door and by habit pulled it closed to go get more stuff
then realised when he came back with full arms that it was locked with him outside and keyless :bang:
