B&W turned into Color!

Hello

I downloaded some black and white photos and when PS Elemnts opend the images they were color even though on the camera they are still black and white.

Any idea why?

did u shoot in RAW, if you did, then that is the reason why

I do this sometimes deliberately. Shoot in B&W mode when I'm interested in the contrast etc and they'll be displayed on the camera lcd as b&w because of the small jpeg it uses, yet raw is exactly that - raw from the cmos - hence colour.
