Ok so l know that film is out and digital is in ;-)
buuuut l was wondering if anyone could recommend a b+w processing course in the heart of london or nearby as l have much b+w film l would like to play around with simply as a matter of interest.

Sometimes it's good to learn the early steps first :-)

Heya.

Well, I'm not exactly in the heart of London myself, but I could probably help you find something. I'm a film shooter and still process my own B&W and have a large dedicated darkroom.

Are you looking to learn how to process film, or are you wanting to learn how to enlarge and make prints? Really, processing film is incredibly easy and you can learn very quickly from written instructions you can find online. If you can clarify that, it would be helpful.

Hi - welcome to the forums :)

Have you tried looking at local colleges? I'm doing an evening photography course at college which is purely B&W film based. As CJ mentioned, the actual developing of the film is really easy - it's the printing that's more difficult.

My objective initially is to learn about processing film.
Following on from that l hope to learn all about the dodging/burning aspects and printing my film. So it is both, but one step at a time and processing would be the ideal first step.

I hope to set up a darkroom one day but it won't be here in london my place is way too small! A lab would be great but l firstly need the knowledge which is what l was wondering if anyone could recommend a course here.

College courses, they seem to be dwindling l could only find a few around here.
They seemed quite expensive too l thought but if there is one that people have found really good l would put my foot in and do it ;)

Oh yeah sorry hi! I guess that was my first post on here.. I should say hi in the appropriate forum.

Hi, and welcome !!

A few years ago I did a City & Guilds course in B & W photography. It was at the local college, only cost £85 and covered stuff from developing film to making prints / enlarging and also dodging and burning.

Sounds like the type of thing you are after.

Can't comment on whats happening in London, but there's still a lot of places running it up in Manchester.

Good luck.

Anth.
