One think im struggling with is getting the full tonal range. I seem to miss off the very white ends of the sepectrum (In SEP2 its tone 10) as it looks quite bright on my monotor. I think i need to calibrate it again.
One thing im keen to explre is the contrast grading technique that Martin Henson uses but i dont have Photoshop and not sure if its needed. I dont do layers but i know its a powerfull tool. Also watched a short DVD re B&W where 3 images are taken +1, 0 , -1 to get a wide tonal range. It sounds a bit like HDR for B&W. But im not sure that i can combine 3 exposures in lightroom4 (unless there is a plug in im missing).
And another thing that im questioning is how do B&W photographers still get the equivalent results of using the above tecniques, but with subjects that are moving. You cant use 3 exposures if the subject is not stationary.
I think i need a book!!!
