As title suggests , just got a body on a Jessops deal but need lenses, it seems not much works on auto focus unless you want to be raped on price, anyone got any ideas?

Big can of worms:) What sort of lens are you looking for? One popular option is the Nikon 35mm 1.8 Af-S which is about £150 I think. There is also an excellent 50mm 1.8 AF-S for a similar sort of price. If you want a zoom, the Tamron 17-50 2.8 is very good value. There are also a myriad of kit zooms available, my favourite being the 18-70 AF-s but I think that's only avialable used these days, but £100 should get you a nice one. If you want something longer, take a look at the 55-200 VR.

I have the 35mm 1.8 and it's great. It's the only one I use :) Because apart from my kit lens it's the only one I have :D

Raped though? No need for such language, just sayin'

With the 24MP that the D3200 has, surely you'll need lenses that are as high quality as possible. Any weakness in the lens IQ will be picked out by the hi resolution sensor and will be quite noticeable. Unfortunately quality lenses ain't cheap!

I'd say start off with the AF-S 18-55 VR which is the kit lens for that camera.

It might be a cheapy lens but there really is nothing wrong with it at all.

You can pick them up from eBay from reputable traders for < £70. Doubt you will get anything with better bang for buck.

Yeah looking for a 50mm and a zoom 75-300 or similar but really need to know where to look without getting ripped again (sorry spell check on my iPad changed it to raped for some reason?) I take it the -s is important as there are a lot of AF lenses out there for sensible money but they don't auto focus on the D3200 so I have been told?

Yes you need AF-s lenses to autofocus. Pretty much very nikon lens made since 1998 is AF-S so you shouldn't have a problem finding any.

Lenses are expensive, they are more important than the body. It's just a fact of DSLR shooting.

Fair comment, so about £150 for a 50mm sound about right?

For the AF-S version, about that, yeah. The 35mm is a bit cheaper I recall.
