Just thought I would give Alan Marlow's lens cleaning/repair business a bit of a punt as I am extremely happy with what he has done with 2 knackered lenses. My Sony SEL 24-70mm f4's AF packed up a while ago. I stripped the lens down myself, found the problem, but it still didn't work. Sony quoted me £210 just to look at it. Alan Marlow fixed it for £45 and it's as good as new. I also sent him a Minolta 28-135mm f4-4.5 my brother gave me. It's rated as good as Sony's modern zooms and is the perfect range for aerial photography. The one my brother gave me had fungus; Alan cleaned it completely for £35. I did have to chase him up 2 weeks after I sent the lenses, but I then had them both back within 3 days. I will be using the Minolta with an af adapter on my A7rii.

Awesome service and very cheap imo; I highly recommend his service for anyone who hasn't come across him yet. http://www.cam-rep.co.uk/

Thanks, always good to hear when something is done well.

I too used Alan a few years ago for a repair to my D200. Great service.

That is a very good contact and I notice that the prices charged are lower than advertised which shows he is only charging the fair price on completion of the work.

I will definitely give him a try when I have a lens problem to deal with.

Thanks for the link.

He is a very reliable engineer and a pleasant chap. I messed up the card slot pins on a Canon 1D iv years ago and he did a very efficient repair at a price I was happy with. The fact that he lived 5 minutes drive away helped!

Thanks for the info. My Canon 17-40mm could do with a clean, due to dust being visible inside and i've been wondering where i can get it done.
