I am not wanting to pry into anyones lifestyle or anything but I would like to know the average weekly wages from Inverness to London for a comparrison.

My Monthly take home is £1038 and Babytiger is £100 a week is this above or below the average I do have to work bank hols which does take it up a bit a few months a year but only by about £35 which makes my PA before tax £15500 and BTs after days off £4700 making us just over 20k is this the normal earnings:shrug:
 
It all depends on your job I suppose, my basic monthly take home is £1780, up to £1910 if I'm acting as group leader. My wife is on about £120 a month as she only works about an hour per day Mon.-Fri. Lazy Moo. :lol:
 
Nice comparison in those first two posts where a £100k house in Lincolnshire is worth about £150k in Essex so who is better off.

I take home nothing cus I am self employed and there is nothing left for me :'(:'(:'(

as said, it really depends on what you do..

Before my wife went on maternity leave, we had a combined income if just over £75000 a year.

I am a Software Engieer/Project Manager and my wife was a Systems Project Admin
 
Yeah you got add house prices into the equation as to whos better off.

Plus hours worked as i personal am shifted to be available to work for periods of 24hrs at a time.

As a result my monthly wage verries greatly from month to monthdepending on how my standbys fall and any overtime. But my basic without overtime would be £32K before tax.

My perents and one brother are on between £17-20K each, the other one is on basic wage. There are very few jobs here that pay more then £16K a year unless you have a trade/skill or management.

A small flat (studio like mine) will set back around £100K a bedroom flat closer to £130K which is not far of a small house in some areas here but a more normal price is around £140-£270K.

Based on the average wages in this area i have no idea how people can get on the market, but then that explains why there is very few first time buyers in the area (a friend is a estate agent)

I dont earn enough and my time is invaluable
 
I get occasional pocket money if that counts.

Average income is supposed to be about £25k for the UK, so about £1500 per month.

I imagine in terms of district that it varies between £20k to £30k as an average.

I haven't looked but National Statistcs will break down what you need to know.
 
From £1600 a month to £64 a week jobseekers allowance :lol: But I do grow me own veg and brew me own Cider :D

I agree. This country is infactuated with people owning their homes. I would rather not work myself in to the ground and be saddled with a huge mortgage but actually enjoy my life and the money i earn.

I am also in the shift/ overtime bracket of employment. So my wages do change slightly on a month to month basis. Last year i tipped in at around 26k.


(By the way does any one else struggle to read matty's posts without hearing Benjamin from Lost on the narrative? I suppose you would have to watch Lost to know what i mean)
 
I take home £1200 a month at the moment, lost £900 a month when ex-wife moved out
feels like I am working just to stay in the flat at the moment!

u8myufo - I could do with brewing my own cider! I do grow my own chili's though :)
 
Whilst it doesn't tell you the average wage by area, this site is interesting to see where your salary fits in your region. Of course, it doesn't take into account outgoings or cost of housing but will give an idea.

Live in East Yorkshire. House prices round here are pretty reasonable, I'm actually moving next week to something a bit bigger. Average salaries, from what I've read, are pretty low in this area, my salary varies massively as I'm on a month to month bonus scheme. Some months £2k sometimes over double that. Thing is you can't plan very well as there is such a huge difference month to month.
 
It is as the politicians say ...better wages in the South but far more costly to live.
Our lifestyle is good considering the amount we earn but far from flamboyant and we do treat ourselves once a month

I work as Warehouse and transport Admin so quite a decent sum for my job
 
I earned the same when I lived in the north (Yorkshire) and the south (Hampshire) - working for the NHS my salary never changed! I was on about £32K per year as a senior midwife. My partner earned about £16K (in the south), so £48K per year between us.

It all depends on what you do and how long you've been doing it, I guess.
 
I used to earn around £20k a year in the motor trade doing admin.

But since being made redundant and the credit crunch ****ing up the whole motor trade it looks like ill struggle to get another job in the trade.

Every other type of admin job ive gone for is around 12-14k.

I've grown to realise that the way things are now, i will likely never own a house. So i'm just gonna try and enjoy life as much as i can until i am forced to retire, then as the government will have wasted all the pension funds probably take a long walk of a short cliff.

To be fair looking back i should have probably left school, murdered someone, got free room and board for ten years and a few degrees thrown in (probably more regular sex), then by the time for my release walk straight into a job of my dreams as employers cant discriminate over criminals.
 
More than a lot of people out there, but I still manage to be skint at the end of the month...or more than skint, usually...
 
I get paid to be a student which is nice (best of both worlds), but on the flipside my spending control is dire... :(

I have just tried the link and I was 32% out lol, obviously I have no idea of salaries in the South East.

And just to put things into perspective a little
I bought this house 30 years ago ( yep still here despite several attempts to move but thats a whole different thread)
it cost me ( us) twice my annual salary (below the "national average")

today to buy my own house, even with the devalued market would
cost me around eight times my annual salary
( and still below the national average, but better off than I was 30 years ago)
 
I run my own sawmill. Money comes in slowly, if some of my customers feel like paying me. Money then rushes out to pay my saw service bills, sawlogs etc. Salary. what's that!:shrug:
 
I think the wage structure in this country is all wrong, too many pen pushing managers walking around with bits of paper on 30k+ working in the public sector. No wonder we have to fund our own pensions (if you can afford one) we pay for their nothingness. i struggle on 19k and work as a skilled fabricator in sheet metal/ironwork a proper job !

Must agree here Cobra.

Bought my house in 1993 on a 20 yr repayment morgage which was about 2.8 times my salary, now I would need 6.3 times my current salary. House prices are crazy. I would hate to be my daughter looking to get her foot on the property ladder in a few years.

Could your skills not be adapted to car dent repairs. I'm sure there is more money in that. But then I thought your field of work was better paid anyway, must be just so further south.

No its a honest question to see if the wages around the country fluctuate a little or a lot and is there really any difference in earning 30k a year and having higher cost of living as opposed to earning 15k a year and having much lower outgoings its only a quick comparison to see if I could afford to live down south and so far the answer is no. you dont have to give your earnings as no one is twisting your arm just a quick 10-12k will do or roundabout

I put myself on link at 60% slightly higher than average I thought, said I was - 32%, sorry I disagree with that, I am not that high an earner...something amiss or the poll is wrong

The key word there is manager,what does the manager in your workplace get? £30k isn't a lot to earn in a managerial role....
