When using a strobe to light a car is it common practice to fire the shutter and the flash via remote trigger?

Or is pressing the shutter by hand while the flash is triggered via the remote quite acceptable?

Just thinking about future shoots alloud really, and wondering if I need to buy more gear

Current sutup is RF-602, 430ex flash and a tripod

if its a long exposure then you can fire the flash manually but I doubt you'd be able to sync it with a short one.

Flash/strobe, they seem to be named depending on your mood

When out lightpainting the other night I operated the shutter via remote, and noticed much sharper images. Granted this would be more aparent on long exposures, was at 30 seconds at the time. Perhaps its partly down to the tripod not being sturdy enough, and moving slightly when pressing the shutter.

I guess I need to get out and try it out for myself :)
