Does anyone have any experience with this? Specifically DIYing it yourself with suction mounts/poles? I'm talking something like this:

That guy has done a few threads on this sort of thing, and i dropped him a message regarding making a rig and he know's his stuff, drop him a message if you like the look of his stuff (personally i think it's amazing)

Thanks Luke

I've not used my rig anywhere near as much as I want to yet but that will change soon :).

Here's a collection of my rig shots so far http://www.flickr.com/photos/darrenthorndick/sets/72157624636408822/

No worries mate, i'm supposed to be shooting my mates s14a tomorrow, fingers crossed! No rig though just tripod and security lighting

Some lovely shots you've got there Darren, any chance you could post up a list of the parts you use in yours? to a degree i'm after a tried and tested setup, not overly keen on the idea of hanging over a grand's worth of kit in mid air without knowing if it'll hold!

Manfrotto suction cups
Manfrotto Super Clamps
Manfrotto Magic arm
Pole

then you need a remote shutter release otherwise you get bounce in the rig shot.

oh, one little tip.

I ALWAYS wrap the camera strap around the pole incase the quick release on the clamp comes loose. ie, not like the photo posted above

Thanks for that, i'm assuming that these are the right bits and pieces:

do the clamps fit directly onto the cups listed above? also, any idea what the specs of your tubing are? already got the remote release, and i'll be rigging up some form of wire attachment just in case the magic arm does happen to fail (i'll be paranoid about that happening)

Those are what I run

The tubing is a secret I'm afraid. Just find something that doesn't flex too much

don't forget that you do the rig shots at a very slow speed so you can walk along with the camera and hold the strap if you need to.

cheers for the help, appreciate it! i'll probably rig up a wire stay with a riser to reduce bounce anyway, makes the choice of tubing a little easier (and potentially lighter).

I'm selling some of my gear soon - suction cups, clamps and magic arm if you are interted
