Just a quick question

Do AF-S lenses focus as quickly as lenses with the motor in the camera body?
(hope that makes sense)

The reason i'm asking is i'm looking at getting a Nikon D3100/5100 and will be looking to take some action shots at sporting events, where i presume the speed of the autofocus will be important?

Thanks.

AF-S lenses are usually faster, by quite a long way.

For action/sports the FPS of the camera is also important. The D3100 isnt great at only 3FPS mind.

So the AF-S lenses will be fine, that's good to know thanks.
As for FPS i never thought of that! Now you got me thinking will the D5100 be up to the job?

Any thoughts

bit of a moot question as afaik neither has an in-body motor to drive screw-drive lenses ...
