I've been going through some recent pictures and think the auto white balance looks off on some of the them, they seem to have got a slight yellow/blue/cold tone - The sun had just started going down on an overcast wintry day, but it still looks too cold (or Is it my imagination?). I've been looking at them now for too long and can't tell anymore. Maybe the WB is accurate and I'm overthinking it, just liking the second one more. Example(s) below:

Original OOC:

_HOW1147

Tweaked:

_HOW1147-2

(2 images, same set) Original OOC:

_HOW1212

Tweaked:

_HOW1211crop

Fuji were the cameras that had auto wb that looked very accurate to me. Nikon I always edit color / wb to try and get it to look natural

I don't think any auto white balance ever gets it right consistently, though I agree with the above Fuji seen better than most. I usually set a fixed white balance while shooting on the assumption that no matter what I do I will tweak it anyway.

Biggest issue is blown skies.. if the sky is grey/white not deep blue it throws the WB. Also, cameras that set WB by live view are generally more successful because they have a stream of frames to look at to decide; and SLR makes the decision based on a single frame over which it does not even necessarily have exposure control.
