Auto RAW

I thought if you used full auto...it set the camera to jpg (Canon 30d)

I used auto on New Years Eve for a few shots to see how it coped...and they are all showing up with the exif as RAW shots...and opening in Camera RAW.

Is this usual ..... as Ive never used auto before.

I think you must have accidentally gone into P mode not "green box" where it is always jpegs that are generated.

Most cameras you have to set the RAW/JPEG outside of any Auto setting ... prepares to get shot down in some ... :shrug:

Would P mode still give you AUTO in the exif data? I think you maybe right... as auto was giving me F2.8 and I thought that a bit small on the dof front so I mightve changed to P.

Just looked through the exif's of photos my son took with my old 20D. He slipped between Program mode and Action mode in Auto. The exif says "Action Program" in sports mode and "Normal Program" in P mode.
