Hmmm...why is it exactly that Audi think that the new A4 incorporating 9000 odd new patents compared to NASA's feeble 6000 odd when developing a vehicle capable of carrying a group of people to the Moon and back is a positive marketing angle?

That point struck me too.

It's an A6 in the ad ;)

They are highlighting the depth of development that went into the car, the A6 has some industry first stuff going on.

Can help but be impressed by the money they chuck at the ads though. After all.....it's got people on a photography forum talking about the brand!

'Advancement Through Technology' I think.

Knew a German at uni who had no idea what that meant either!

Strange. It means "Progress through Technology". Wierd how a German can't translate 3 words of his mother tongue...

edit: Actual translation through Babel Fish:

"projection/lead by technology"

German guy approaches a prostitute and says, "I vish to buy sex vit you."

"OK" says the girl, "I'll charge 20 an hour."

"Ist goot, but I must varn you, I am a little kinky."

"No problem," she replies cautiously, "I can do a little kinky." So off they go to the girl's flat, where the German produces four large bedsprings and a duck caller. I vant you to tie ze springs to each of your limbs."

The girl finds this most odd, but complies, fastening the springs to her elbows and knees. "Now you vill get on your hans und knees." She duly does this, balancing on the springs.

"You vill please blow zis vistle as I make love to you." She find this odd, but it's harmless, and after all the guy is paying well. The sex is fantastic.

She is bounced all over the room by the energetic German, all the time honking on the duck caller. The climax is the most sensational that she has ever experienced and it is several minutes before she has recovered the breath to say:

"That was totally amazing, where did you learn how to do that?"

"Ah," says the German, "Four-sprung duck technique"

I'm intrigue to know what these "9000" things are and why they would feel the need to have to patent them. What 9000 things can possibly need developing for a new car, that would require a patent?

Four Sprung Duck Technique!

/Dammit Kamion you beat me to it :)

True..though in my case I failed to recognise the model they were advertising:bonk:

I wonder if the fact that Audi feel the need to submit more than 9000 patents for this car against NASA's 6000+ for it's trip to visit Mr. Spoon says much more about modern business ethics than it does about actual advancements in automotive technology

nah....have a good idea.....others want it...licence it.........kerching!!!!!!!!!!!!

whats sells one car, will sell another.

stick a zonda engine in a kia and see how many get sold :D
