I have a "squadron" that passes through my garden at some time every day, but they never linger (well, not long enough to get pictures).

I have the usual feeder stuff out, suet, fat balls, sunflower hearts etc and I've tried wiping honey on the branches of some bushes, all without success.
Whats your recipe then? Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Ltt's are almost exclusively insectivorous so try and use the fat cakes that are made from insects rather than seeds, at least that's what i've read and apparently why they have a harder time in winter than other birds.
I tried it last year and it seemed to work.

The Ltt's will stay and visit often for sponge cake, you can get the packs of 12 fairy cakes from Asda or Tesco for 38-55p a pack......TRY IT !!! I tell you they love them.

Tom

I suppose they might all have their own preference John depending I would have thought on what other food they have been used to from other garden feeders. The one`s that frequent my place love the square insect suet blocks, bear in mind we are still getting some fairly mild weather and there are still bugs and what have you on the Trees which they will naturaly feed off of.

If you have a PDA with Collins E Bird guide then use one of the calls, They are probably THE most responsive bird to a call and will practically sit on your head to see where it's coming from. The only time i refrain though is during the breeding season.

Will this work for members of the opposite sex Matty :naughty:

Many thanks for the replies, I was beginning to despair. Rich' I have the insect block but, as you say, it's a bit warm at the mo'. Tom, I'll certainly give the cakes a go, thanks.
Matt, i had considered trying calling so i may buy some bird call recordings.

Once again, many thanks!
