I am looking for some help if possible, i have been asked to compile a family photograph using two shots combined. Whilst I am not to bad at minor PP techniques i do not have the skill required to make a decent job of what I have been asked to do.

Basically I need the chap from the first image put behind his sisters in the second image (would prefer behind the two on the RHS as we look. it would also need the colour balancing slightly between the two sets of flesh tones.

Would some kind person who thinks they would be able to do a decent job of it be able to do this for me? If they PM me their email address I will send the scanned image files over, I think they are about 6.0 MB each, the original scanned images are a little better to work with than these posted here.

I would really appreciate if someone can help with this, there are only two of the four people surviving and one of these is my Wife's Grandmother!

Paying more attention, put him on the other side.

Not bad, but in that scenario he would be almost a head taller as he is at least one step higher (9" as standard) and maybe even two. I would have thought that his chin should at the very minimum be level with the ladies heads.

What ever happened to a good old fashioned "thank you....is there any way we could try him a little taller?" ;)

Yes it does read that way a bit, although I'm sure it wasn't intended (he says hoping).

I think you did a splendid job there AI . It's a shame the pic of the chap has him with his left shoulder raised as it sort of follows the lady's head, but a quick edit by the OP can sort that easily if he wishes.

Well to be honest, I thought the posts by Almost_Invisible were just trial shots to show what could be done and were as he stated, quick edits and not the finished article. I did not really want the edits done in the thread, as I would have preferred them done from the slightly better quality scans which is why I specifically asked for anyone who could help to PM me with their email address to enable me to send the best scans that I could so that when the images were later printed they were as good as can be.

The image posted on the thread once saved and opened in photoshop and then set to the 300 dpi required gives an image of about 2.6" x 2" which is not really much good for what I want. Fine for a monitor screen though.

So, whilst I applaud Almost_Invisibles obvious skill, it is not really a lot of use to me as it is, although if he would like to contact me as requested in the OP and do something similar with the larger files that I would email to him then Many Thanks would have been forthcoming and rightly so.

So in answer to your point above, should I thank everybody who posts an answer or edit on the thread, or just those that actually help specifically as requested?

Your OP says the original images are a "little better" it doesn't suggest vastly bigger or better, AI's done a pretty fair job, seeing as it's for nothing a thank you might have helped. Wayne

So the image on the thread if saved is 600kB I said in the OP that the scanned images were 6MB so a 10x larger file does not suggest better then? Why do people not read what is actually in the thread.

Yes, I admit AI has done a good job, very good in fact, he has shown he has some considerable skill in the use of PP, but of no use to me as it is.

Shouldn't the gentleman have feet somewhere? ;)

Yes, but he has been placed looking from the doorway, so his feet are not on the step outside

I did read your post did you? quote "the original scanned images are a little better to work with than these posted here." like I said, a little better. Personally I don't check the file size of every pic posted by somebody who wants a freebie! A thank you costs nothing (like the work you got) Next time try doing it yourself. Wayne

I think the answer is yes you should. Almost_Invisible has tried to help you, asked for no payment for his time and skills and you are arguing about whether you should say thank you geeee whiz!!

Do you think he should prove his worth without thanks before you will agree to allow him to do something for you for nothing?

Well in that case then i thank everybody on this forum for all the help they also have not yet given me. just in case they get the urge to post an edit on this thread that will be as much use to me as AI's.

I have said that he has done well, BUT his edits are of no use to me unless he wants to do it with the larger files, if not, he is just using my request to show off his skills, It does not help me, it has not answered my plea for help, so what exactly am I thanking him for?

The pictures originally posted by me and then edited and reposted are too small for my needs, they have been made smaller for the web and will not print very well. My original request was for someone to contact me by PM in order for me to forward the larger files, AI has not done this, therefore aside from showing off his edits what exactly should I be thanking him for?

On the other hand, other people have contacted me by PM, they have been thanked for their time, effort and trouble and I would like to think that they are appreciated and know that if i can help them in any way then they only have to ask.

When i first saw the thread i planned to PM you and offer to "have a go" when i get som time at the end of the week.

Guess what, forget it. Maybe you could even pay a retoucher like the rest of Joe Public would have to. THEN........come storming in with your attitude.
