Attaching a photograph to a mount for framing

Hi,

Can anyone tell me which is the best method of attaching a photograph to a mount for framing. I bought some frames and a friend of mine whose a painter cut my mounts and gave me some gummed paper to stick the photograph to the mount which I have done with some reservations I might add. Now that I have framed them you can see where the gummed paper has been stuck to the back of the photograph it looks like 3 indents across the top of the picture. I did wonder about doing it this way but went ahead anyway as I have never done it before and they are just for my own use. I would appreciate some help or ideas in solving this probably very simple problem.

I got some tape from Cotswold Mounts, the self adhesive Kraft tape here http://www.cotswoldmounts.co.uk/accessories.html which works well.

I usually put one small piece of masking tape at the top to hold the print in place and then lay a thin piece of card over the print and tape that to the back of the mount, keeps dust out the back and gives a little extra rigidity.

We usually use two mounts attaching the photograph to the bottom mount with tape and overlaying with the top cut-out mount which is hinged with tape to the bottom mount.
