hi
Is this Asus VX279H monitor a good buy for photo editing with my colormuki ?
Or should I stay with my colormuki & monitor BenQ XL2420T ?
Heard a ips monitor is a lot better display for photo editing ..
Views would be a great help

Or should I be looking at something else around the same budget £160

:tumbleweed:

If you can find a little more cash Dell U2412M monitors (24", 1920 X 1200) can sometimes be had new for £180.

Why this one? Because the extra 120 vertical pixels provide useful extra space when editing images compared to HD, and the pixel pitch isn't so coarse as it will be on that 27" screen. They seem well thought of for a budget monitor for photo editing, and I've been happy with mine for the last couple of years. HTH

With the U2412m will my colormuki be ok with it ? I take it still need doing ?

It will make changes to your computer rather than the monitor, and yes, it will need doing.

Cheers for the input [emoji4]
Any others should I have a look at ?
It seems the dell ultra sharp range are the ones to be looking at ??

I'm not a monitor expert - just did some research when I needed one - but yes, the ultrasharp range seem to be the business. There's rather a lot of 'what monitor' threads, so it might be worth a quick search too. :)

Hmm... according to Asus, it's not IPS at all... but a derivative of the VA panel. Either way it will be better than your current panel, which is a TN panel, and shouldn't really be used for serious imaging purposes.

The Dell U2412M is a better choice if you can reach for that. The extra vertical resolution and the 16:10 aspect makes a big difference, especially in applications like Lightroom where there's toolbars top and bottom. It's just a really nice screen too.

many thanks for the reply
Got a chance of the Dell u2412hm any good ,better the Dell U 2412M ?..
There's a Dell UltraSharp U2711 but its out of my budget at the moment is it worth saving for against the other monitors ?

There's a few monitor comparison sites around (try tftcentral.co.uk) so you're probably best using one of those to assess what's good. If the U2412HM is a 16:9 (as a quick net search suggests it is) then I would avoid it.

many thanks for the input 16:9 it is indeed ..

wow When u search on google for IPS 16:10 monitors that narrows the search down a lot

The U2412M is 16:10.. it's worth it.. it does make a difference. 16:9 is a stupid format for still images.

The U2412M is a brilliant value for money screen. If you can get your hands on one, do so.

I'd hoped David would be along soon - he know far more about monitors than I do.
