Hi,

I'm looking to source a new photobook supplier (think Loxley's Infinity Coffee Table Book) - and can only come up with Loxley, of course, Bob Books (dubious quality of covers, they start to warp quickly) and sim 2000 ( a bit pricey).

Anyone got any experience of Asuka? Or, for that matter, can anyone recommend a pro supplier that can supply 12" x 12" Coffee Table type Photobooks with pages thicker than 250 gsm and the pages lay flat?

Thanks!

Mike

Are there any pro togs on here?

Surely someone on here must be a pro tog that's used Coffee Table type Photobooks?

Any thoughts?

You could try under business (for pro's), but I am surprised that no-one has answered here if they do know of one.
Perhaps your list of requirements are too precise? The weight of the paper perhaps is too heavy? Although being an indicator of 'quality' 250gsm is quite heavy? By my calculations that would make a 20 leaf book weight half a kilogram?

gsm is grams/metre squared and the area of a page of 20x20" is approx 2580cm squared which is only about 26% of a meter squared so a 20 page book will weight closer to 1250g if my maths is correct :)

Hmm, I did it as one page is 12" by 12" = 30.48 cm x 30.48cm
30 cm is roughly 1/3rd of a meter. Meaning that 9 pages is almost 1 metre squared. (actually 1 square yard)
Then 20 leaves is roughly 2 square meters.
2 square meters = 250gsm x 2 = 500 grams.

Although I did the calculation in my head, I can't see where I made too large an approximation or mistake. ??? (well, I can see a spelling mistake now, but that shouldn't effect the answer)

Edit:
Alternatively:
pages*width mm*height mm=mm square
20*(12*25.49)*(12*25.49) =1871251.48
mm square*grams per mm sq=grams
1871251.48*0.000250=467.812870
Just over a pound.
(why am I doing this, I should be asleep)

Many thanks for the responses.

In the end I've plumped for Loxley for the Photobooks and Graphistudio for the albums.
