Hey all,

I am running an astrophotography workshop in Cyprus this summer. Cyprus has clear skies most of the year and if you know where to go, very little light pollution as well providing great opportunities for night time photography. We will have the opportunity to photograph the Milky Way and also the Perseids Meteor Shower. With no moonlight, this year will be one of the best for photographing the Perseids.

I grew up in Cyprus and still go back every summer so I know many great locations. I already have a set of locations in mind but we can always be flexible depending on the group. I have done a timelapse video last year that shows some of the locations we will be visiting.

Accomodation and transportation during the workshop is all included in the price. I will be around to provide tuition and answer your questions throughout the sessions.

Partners are also welcome if you want to make it a summer holiday. We'll be free during the day time, so you can either hang out with the group, relax at the beach, or travel to see the local sights.

You can find more information and booking details on here: http://esentunar.com/workshops

Here are some images from previous years to show you what we'll be shooting:

I have a lot to learn I know.

I am a beginner at this astro photog. Tonight, I tried Jupiter, with the 8" telescope and Olympus epl5 directly attached. Was just getting Jupiters bands. I needed a quick exposure for these, but then I lost the moons.

Was hoping to be able to stack and maybe get the best of both.

Used Deep Sky software. Took 10 pictures of Jupiter, and 10 with the telescope cap on.

Deepsky only allowed one photo to be stacked, so the night was unsuccessful.

Do we have a forum here dedicated to Astro photography? or can you recommend a learning curve for beginners in this fascinating aspect of photography?

Also tried to photo the Orion Nebula, part of the problem is that my astro tripod won't track for some reason.

Best Regards

Mark J

I am quite new with deep space objects and stacking as well to be honest. I have been doing wide-angle asto/landscapes up to now.

Photoraphy-on-the-net have a dedicated astro photography forum if you want to check out, and they seem to be quite helpful there as well.

Crikey, Eden, if you are a quite new to deep space photo, you are doing some great photos.

Thanks for the link. I will look there as well. Read up on stacking, but alas our skies are full of rain and cloud for a few days.

Be good to see more of your work.

Cheers Mark.

I don't have any other stacked images at the moment, but I am off to Cyprus again for Easter, so hopefully I'll get clear skies to try few more targets.
