We all now the police have a job to do but......

I think the police should train officers in decorum when approach the press etc in public situations

Trouble is the Police are trained to take control of a situation by being forcefull, generally that works ok but clearly in some cases its overkill.
 
To be honest from that very short edited clip I would say the police acted wholly appropriately and the "photographer" bought this upon herself and has no cause for complaint

this. 16s of video, lets all form a snap opinion..

from the (minimal) footage id say he moved her before the van and horses got to her (stopping them every 2 seconds because a moron with a camera hasn't moved would not be effective).

seriously though, if they'd let one of the police horses kick her or run her foot over with the van there'd be a different thread on here saying why didn't they warn the photographer.
 
In all honesty I do see the health and safety aspect to the movement of the photographer but I also think the the original police officer came in a little heavy handed.'.'

I posted this exact same comment, just after I posted here, in the comments section for this video on Vimeo, it has since been removed - says it all realy
 
I agree she should have been more aware, I have been up close to the police horses at EDL marches and I do rely on the police officers for protection when needed but many times they have relied on me for images for identification purposes.....I see it as a two way relationship but there is always one police officer or photographer who need to make exception to the rule....she def done no favors by firing off at the last police officer...... moderate reaction from both could have avoided this

Free speech has never existed...ever... The only difference nowerdays is that you don't get stoned to death in the market square for talking out of turn... other than that your still not allowed to say or type whetever you want..

Only people who want to use speech as a weapon believe in free speech :)

i'm sure in some countries they'd have just run her over pour encourage la autres ,
 
Saw nothing wrong there with what the police officer did, the very brief moment you see shows him nearly falling over the photographer that was in a dangerous position with horses and van, she was moved with a small amount of force out of the way, we all know exactly how most of these EDL demos go, she should have had more spacial awareness and not got in the way of them trying to do their job

Only place in the world that I know of with free speech is the Palace of Westminster. The Americans don't have it, no matter what their first amendment says.

totally agree ,looking at the constriction of the building behind her the stupid cow could well have gotten crushed ,and i never never ever trust a horse ,there the most unpredictable animals of the lot ,had more than my fair share of horse accidents in my immediate family
 
Notice that she was wearing a helmet? I wonder why?

Really?

Id be more worried about the horse injuring itself whilst trampling her, than I would about the woman. To me, this just looks like another photographer that is so full of the 'Its my right to be here taking photos whatever you think', to think about using a bit of common sense and consider the safety aspect. Silly person!
 
Thought the copper was firm, but nothing more and certainly not assault

Given her manner I would think she is more than used to a bit of agro, even came dressed for it.
 
Back in the '70s there was at least one police horse who was allegedly trained to swing his head towards chants of "Chelsea". The copper was an Arse nal fan...
 
As it goes generally horses hate stepping on people, or anything unstable looking, they'll try really hard not too almost to the point of un-footing themselves.

She was quite safe I think and she may have known it. If id had been standing their Id have felt out of the way and safe... He was a little excitable for sure by my eye. so nah! :p
 
I read the comments before watching the video and expected to see something terrible. All I can say is what a lot of fuss about nothing.

just viewed the video clip again ,she is a press or freelance photographer and behind the police lines ,the crash helmet is worn as there will obviously be missiles thrown from the crowd in the direction of the police .therefore she knows she is working in a danger area and has no more right to complain than a war correspondent working in syria .the police officer moved her out of the way IMHO quiet correctly as the crowd will be surging forward once the van and horses have passed through .if you can't take the heat stay out of the f****** kitchen
