Hello,

I have a question for anyone who has recently shot a series or exhibited their work:

How important is it to keep the same aspect ratio in your select photos? I have a couple of shots that would benefit from a 5:7 crop over a 4:3. Is this a bad, unprofessional move?

Thanks!

It's not ideal I suppose, but if you're getting it mounted and framed, it shouldn't be too much of an issue providing you get the frames the same size and just cut the mounts to suit the size of the prints.

What you might want to give some consideration to is how you lay out the 'odd' sized pictures in amongst the set, e.g. Make them look deliberate by either putting them altogether on a separate wall (if that's an option), alternating them, positioning them 'symmetrically' in the layout, etc.

I wouldn't worry at all and the variety might be welcome. Series is about content rather than format.
