asking advice on which flash

hi im after some advice on which flash to buy i know there will be a lot of ifs and buts but i dont have a clue what i need or want i have never used a hotshoe flash but i have come up a few times were i need one or better would be off camera.

i will have a canon 60d the photography i do will be doing will be portrite , product and still object , smoke and water droplets ,

i was thinking of getting a yougnou 585ex as it does the e-ttl and wait then add a cheaper flash and receivers later on or i also thought about getting a cheaper one the YN-468 which does the e-TTL and a YN-460 and some receivers.

would i benefit from the 585ex in the future ?

i dont have a lot of money for the flash so these as far as i can see would be my options

i know i have rambled on a bit but thanks for the help

Sorry I can't help on the third party flashes but if you're on a budget pick up a 430EX / 550EX or 580EX secondhand. All superb, and if you avoid the Mark II versions (in the case of the 430 and 580) they shouldn't be too expensive.
