As the title states, I was recently asked to do some charity senior portraits for kids who aren't able to afford a "professional". Now I know that I've been looking for some new ideas for poses and all but I've jsut started taking portraits. Also I have no studio equiptment, and I have no special lenses as I own a Powershot A630. I jsut don't know if I would feel comfortable taking the photographs since I am only 19, but on the other hand it is for charity.

Any suggestions?

Go for outdoor or sunlight (yeah right... not this winter) as the light will be better.

I guess you want to be flattering so going b/w and contrasty might not be what the coffin dodgers are looking for?

Use a pale background (sheet) and site it several feet behind said wrinkly.
Then if you can drop the Aperture (Av setting) down to f4 that way you'll get the subject sharp and the background not.

Age doesnt matter, experience does. I guess you either take some shots that work or you learn something. Winner either way.

i would echo this, the more light the better, and something for a reflector too. And get a tripod

It's a tough call, are you expected to supply the prints at your own expense as well? to be honest if so I'd turn it down unless you can really afford it and want the practice.

Thanks for your advice guys. And Steep, I'm not positive on if I'm suppose to provide pritns as well so I'm just going to turn the gig down. My main reason is becasue I was recently chosen to be in an "invitation only" art show but once I showed up to see my photo's they looked like they were thrown in water and blow dried! Come to find out that they were poorly stored but are now fine.

I think for the moment I'm just going to perfect my portraits on my friends and eventually start up to paid gigs.
