What a couple of eejits though, setting fire to a landcover to burn down his gates. They could have sold it for decent money irrespective of condition and bought something horrible to incinerate instead.

I agree. Perhaps collect all the environmentalist leaflets dropped in the streets and put them in a neat pile next to the gate? :thinking:
 
Like him or loathe him, he most certainly doesn't deserve this kind of treatment. His intentions, IMHO, are honourable and by and large I agree with his point of view, but as a personality......no thanks.

It is a bit of an odd one this. More like a stunt. Burning a car to scorch some gates is odd unless it were already nearby — maybe it was intended to point to the sort of people who use Landrovers.? Maybe it was nearby, ie the Landy was handy ;).

Hey don't tar all land rover owners with this kind of slur ....... It's like trying to imply that all Richards are dik heads.
 
Indeed, as a Landy (well, Disco4) owner myself, I wouldn't dream of burning it in front of anyones gates, even Boris's.

Pretty sure that the Range Rover is a model in the Land Rover (well, Jaguar/Land Rover) range so either could be considered correct, in the same way that a Cortina could be called a Ford.

Landy fanatics don't consider Range Rovers to be 'real' Land Rovers. ;)
 
Landy fanatics barely concede that Defenders (proper ones!) are Landies - coil springs spoiled us all!!!

Not saying it isn’t, but what is the evidence that it’s a protest against his “stand on wildlife”? There doesn’t seem to be any additional message etc.

I've always found him to be a "little" strange TBH, Yes I met him quite a few years ago, when the company I was working for ( pest control)
at the time, was trying to improve their image.
I also think he'd a bit of a hypocrite inasmuch as
For over ten years Packham has been in a relationship with Charlotte Corney, owner of the Isle of Wight Zoo.

The gate burning thing does seem a bit odd to me, especially the way it was done.
There have also been a few other reported instances at his gate in the past,
Crows, I think it was nailed to his gate.

What's the saying? there is no such thing as bad publicity.

He’s a divisive character! :( And any post with a car in it is liable to veer off the road ;).

It's pretty hard to steer any conversation on the internet... :naughty:
 
It’s apparently at least in part due to his views against Fox hunting and the mass release of Pheasants for shooting ( this causes a big impact to songbirds apparently)
If I understand it correctly vested interests are conducting a campaign against him which is appalling
Like him or not his intentions are honourable and he’s trying to do the right thing for our wildlife
