Ok, I had decided on getting the Bowens 400/400 kit and ordered one this morning for £529, although I haven't paid yet - the company are ordering from their stockist - so in theory I could cancel this without much hassle.

I was happy with this, but just received an email from an eBayer who is selling a Bowens 500/500 kit (GM model) - the case is a bit worn by the wheels, and the reflector has a small dent in it - but he's willing to take £500 cash for it on collection.

What would you do?

£529 for new 400/400 kit, or £500 for fairly used 500/500 kit?

£29 extra gives you a years warranty, peace of mind and new kit......... I think that says it all.

Personally I'd go with new - but each to their own.

Can I just say the Baby in the Teacup photo on your site is just awesome :)

Hmmm...
£529 for a 2 head basic kit with umbrellas
A very similar kit from Lencarta (ElitePro 300) would only cost you £436 and would also include a bag for the heads, a 5 in 1 reflector and a radio trigger set...
Sold direct, not through retailers, which saves you a pile of dosh...

I brought a 400/400 kit today too :D
got mine from warehouse express x

Im SO incapable of making decisions for myself...

You don't say...

Make your mind up and stick with it. For better for worse, for richer...... Why didn't you buy them from somebody who had them in stock?

The difference between 400 and 500 watt sec Bowens is quite negligible, less than a quarter of a stop. Go with new.

The difference between 300 and 400 is half a stop - probably worthwhile.
